GENERAL INTRODUCTION OF MANIPUR

Manipur is situated in India’s northeastern region. It is one of the twenty-eight states of India. It is the twenty-three largest State by land and the twenty-three most populous state in India. It shares borders with Assam to the westNagaland to the north, and Mizoram to the south. It also shares an international border with Myanmar to the east.

Handloom is the biggest industry in the state. Mαnipuri dance is one of the eight classical dances of India. The polo game originated from Mαnipur. Imphal is the capital of the state. Mαnipur is the home state of a world-famous woman boxer, Mary Kom. The Loktak lakethe biggest freshwater lake in eastern India.

Mαnipur economics is primarily agriculture, forestry, cottage and trade-driven. Mαnipur State has the highest number of handicrafts units and the highest number of crafts-persons in the northeastern region of India.

At present, Nongthombam Biren Singh is the Chief Minister of the state.
