GENERAL INTRODUCTION OF UTTAR PRADESH

 Uttar Pradesh is situated in India’s northern region. It is one of the twenty-eight states of India. It is the fourth Indian state by land and the most populous Indian state in India. It shares borders with Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh to the northBihar to the eastMadhya Pradesh to the southRajasthan to the westHaryana to the northwestChhattisgarh and Jharkhand to the southeast, and the Union Territory Delhi to the northwest. It also shares an international border with Nepal to the north.

Lucknow is the capital of the state. At present, the state has two international airports, Chaudhary Charan Singh Airport in Lucknow and Lal Bahadur Shastri Airport in Varanasi. The major rivers of the state are the Ganges, Yamuna, Sarayu, Betwa, and Ghaghara. These rivers are of religious importance in Hinduism. The state’s tourism is a major contributor to the state’s economy. Uttar Pradesh is rich and varied, with topography, vibrant culture, festivals, monuments, ancient places of worship. The three world Heritage Sites are situated in the state. It ranks first among tourist destinations in India. Uttar Pradesh has several historical, natural and religious tourist destinations such as Varanasi, Ayodha, Prayagraj, Kushinagar and Vrindavan.

At present, Yogi Adityanath is the Chief Minister of the state.
